Hi Everyone!

I'm sorry that it's taken me so long to create a blog to introduce myself, but here goes!

My name is Yuki Mizuma and I apologize beforehand for the posts being written in English since my Japanese isn't very strong :] I was born in New Jersey, moved around a bit, and came back to NJ. Both my parents are Japanese and while I can understand it well and speak enough to get by, I'm not the greatest at it. I'm a photojournalism major and I hope to work as a humanitarian photojournalist when I get older.  I also love reading, exploring, eating, hanging out with my friends, watching movies, and anything to do with makeup and nail polish :]

Because I'm full Japanese but my skills were so lacking, I decided to take JPS101 when I first came to SU. That's when I heard about the JSA and decided to join.  I didn't realize how much I missed being around people who spoke Japanese and hearing the language until I went to the first meeting.  Then, I was hooked.  JSA is such a great way to meet new people and you all have a common interest or heritage so it's easy to feel comfortable.  I'm so glad and honored to have the opportunity to come back to 'Cuse in the fall and be an officer for the JSA.

I hope that everyone is having a great summer! I'm at work right now at a graphic design and photography studio.  We have photoshoots at least once a week, and I get to learn a lot so I absolutely love this job.  I've been working at SJ Communication Design for three years now so feel free to check out the website! What's new?

Hi all!! This is Kimagure Dori! :] Finally Yuriko san appeared from between the clouds! Hooray! I’ve never been happier !! :] I will introduce myself next time...probably. fufufu---

I also would like to take this opportunity to congratulate our graduating Maxwell students!!! (I wish I could have used colorful emoticons here lol) YAY!! Glad the commencement was not held in the heavy rain :]  And SU summer session I is ooooovvvveeeerrrr!! Now it’s done! Take a break! :] At the same time, summer session II starts tomorrow!!!!! Let’s keep up the good work!!

Aaaaannnnndddd I have one more thing to announce. Our SU/JSA alumna contacted us to ask whether he is able to get some heart/SU budges that we made for the May commencement. Why not? Now he displays them at his restaurant in Kanagawa, Japan in order to introduce what JSA has been done on this matter. The following passages displayed at his restaurant explain how he experienced Japan’s catastrophe and how he appreciates people’s willingness to support him.

私がシラキュース大学を卒業したのは２０１０年１２月です。今回の大震災はようやく久々の日本での生活に慣れてきた矢先に起きたことでした。

大きな混乱の中、私を勇気づけてくれたのは大学時代に知り合った多くの友人たちからのSNSを通しての連絡でした。アメリカをはじめ、ヨーロッパや味から寄せられてくるメッセージに私は「一人ではない」と思うことができました。この時ほど留学してよかったと思った瞬間はありませんでした。

おおきな事を言っているのかもしれませんが、知り合うことで、現地に住む人たちが外国であるこの国に興味と親近感を感じ、そして時にこうして安否を心配してくれることで、小さな国際交流の、大きな力を学ぶ事ができました。

今回私の先輩／後輩にあたるJSAのメンバーがシラキュースで東北地方太平洋沖地震のチャリティーを行っている事を聞き、何か力になれる事がないかと思い連絡をとりました。私にできる事はアメリカでの彼らの行動をこうして紹介する事しかできませんが、少し手も多くの孤独な戦いに生きる人たちへ「あなたは決して一人ではない」というメッセージを届けていきたいと思っています。

数に限りがありますが、これはJSAのメンバーがチャリティーの際に集まって下さった皆様に配った手作りのバッジです。彼らの小さな証しをよろしければ貰ってください。そして海外から日本に寄せられた多くの思いを私と一緒に広めていきましょう。

1ヶ月の日本でのvacationからCUSEに戻ってきましたゆりこでーす。
きまぐれドリーちゃんみたいに、かわいいネーミングがほしいなーって思ったのですが、
とくにコレといったものが思いうかばなかったので、ふつーに名のりました(・・。)ゞ
あ、でもわたし日本では「たこちゃん」とか「たこP」って呼ばれることが多いんだな!
なぜだかわかったあなたはすごいd(￣◇￣)b

さて遅れましたが簡単に自己紹介を☆
2年まえの夏からSUっ子になりましたので、CUSE3年目に突入いたしました。
あー次juniorねって思われると思いますが違います!
院生3年目です。しかもChemistry学んでしまってます…ヾ(;´▽｀A``
ってここまでいうと、ほぼみんなに
「Are you crazy??」って言われますが、いたってフツーの子ですよ!!

出身は埼玉。
CUSEのまえはサウスダコタにいました('-'*)
サウスダコタはアメリカの州ですからね、知らない方はgoogle mapでさがしてくださーい!
あ、院生でTeaching Assistantもしているので、undergradのchemistryのクラス教えてます。
